Despite standing firm and fighting for you in committee rooms and House Chamber, Dodie never dreamed of being in politics. Growing up in Shreveport, her dad served as a Shreveport police officer and her mom worked a variety of jobs to help provide for her and her 5 other sibling. Growing up in a small 3 bed, 2 bath home; Dodie learned early on the importance of fighting for what you believe in and protecting what you have.

Dodie moved to the Haughton area shortly after marrying Gary Horton 47 years ago. Like a lot of y'all, they found this area to be ideal for raising their 3 daughters. She is blessed by the fact that they all live in the area so that she can see them and her 3 grandkids. .
